Scripture uplifts and renews my soul. Here are a few scriptural references that I find inspirational in the arena of mental illness and mental health.


I love my God, my Heavenly Father; my Savior, Jesus Christ; and appreciate the influence of the Holy Ghost in my life.



Old Testament


"But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart." 1 Samuel 16:7

"For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God." Job 19:25-26

New Testament


"Ye are the light of the world. Book of Mormon

Doctrine of Covenants


"For behold, it is not meet that I should command in all things; for he that is compelled in all things, the same is a slothful and not a wise servant; wherefore he receiveth no reward. Verily I say, men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many things of their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness" D&C 58:26-27
